A scatterplot keeps two measurements paired
Each point represents one unit with an explanatory x value and response y value. Label both axes with variables and units, then inspect direction, form, strength, gaps, and unusual points. A positive association means larger x tends to accompany larger y in the observed data; it does not require every point to rise. Sorting x and y independently destroys the original pairs and can invent a relationship. Retain the supplied table so the visual can be checked numerically.
